Denikaina Ready controversy

Denikaina Ready movie has stirred up a series of controversies for the first time ever in the state. Acted by Manchu Vishnu and directed by Nageshwara Reddy, Denikaina Ready is a slap stick comedy, which was remake of Malayalam movie Udayapuram Sultan. Amidst so many expectations, the movie was released on Dasara (in October). On day one itself, the movie received overwhelming response and within a week, it scored maximum at the box office.

Exactly after a week of its release, a few priests in Andhra Pradesh expressed their objects against the movie. They said Brahmins were depicted in low order, which was derogatory to the entire community. A large number of people, claiming themselves as Brahmins, have attacked theatres that screened Denikaina Ready. Later, they even conducted final rituals of Mohanbabu by offering pindapradanam etc (lumps of flour offered to the departed souls). Similar activities took place across the state.

The agitation didn't stop there. A set of people, who again claimed themselves as Brahmins, have staged a protest in front of Mohanbabu's residence. Initially they were lifted by the police. But the next time, when they allegedly tried to barge into the residence of Mohanbabu, Vishnu plunged into the picture. He had the agitators caned to the core by his private security.

Condemning attack on Brahmins, a large number of community people, have approached State Human Rights Commission while Vishnu too approached human rights commission against offering pindapradanams for his father, who was very much alive. The HRC took both the complaints. Meanwhile, a person in Hyderabad filed a private case against Mohanbabu, Brahmanandam, Vishnu and Nageshwara Reddy in Malkajgiri court. The court received the petition and directed the police to file cases against the four. Accordingly, criminal cases were filed against them.

Upset over the entire issue, Mohanbabu reiterated that he didn't hurt the sentiments of Brahmin community. This heat of the issue even touched Tamil Nadu. And Hindu priests over there found fault with acts of agitators in Andhra Pradesh. They came in support of Mohanbabu and held a press meet in Hyderabad. Tamil Nadu priests said Mohanbabu was a good person and respected Brahmin community. They serious found fault with the people who offered pindapradanams to Mohanbabu. All in all, Denikaina Ready-although entertained public to the core-became a pain in the neck to Manchu family.
