Nandi Awards-given by the Government of Andhra Pradesh- for the year 2011 were declared in October. As expected Sri Rama Rajyam movie took the centre stage and bagged maximum number of awards including best film award followed by Dookudu. Nayantara aka Nayan, the sensual actress who created waves in southern film industry appeared in the role of Sita mata in Sri Rama Rajyam. For her outstanding performance, Nayan received Nandi Award in the female lead role. In the male lead role, Mahesh Babu-the superstar-bagged Nandi for his splendid performance in Dookudu.

Best director award was bagged by Shankar for the movie Jai Bolo Telangana wbuke Srinu Vaitla got the award in the best screenplay category for Dookudu. Best supporting actor (male) was bagged by Prakash Raj for Dookudu and female by Sujatha Reddy for Inkennaallu. Music maestro Ilayaraja got Nandi for his melodious songs in Sri Rama Rajyam. Manchu Laskhmi received the award for best villaian in Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu. Noted dialogue writer Neelakanta got Nandi for his dialogues in Virodhi.

In special categories, Jai Bolo Telangana bagged award for best film on national integration, award in best documentary category was given to Avayuva Daanam, Shikaram movie bagged Nandi for best children's film while Dookudu got another award for best popular film for providing wholesome entertainment. Master Nikhil got best child actor (male) for the movie 100% Love while Baby Anny got that award in female category for Rajanna.

Sreenu got the award for best choreography in Sri Rama Rajyam, Phani bagged the award for best special effects in Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu, Sunitha for best dubbing in Sri Rama Rajyam and RCM Raju for best dubbing (male) in Jai Bolo Telangana. Gaddar, a balad singer, who apparently sung for the first time in a movie, received best playback (male) for Jai Bolo Telangana, while Malavika got best playback (female) for Rajanna. Noted critic Rentala Jayadev got best film critic award.

Nandi Awards 2011 were welcomed by scores of film critics who apparently said these awards were not only fair but even put an end to many people-in the industry and out of the industry-to the allegations that lobbying takes place while deciding awards.
