Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's personal drama entered newspaper space for quite many days prior to her divorce. It was the actor and designer, Katie Holmes-who had five years of marriage with celebrated actor Tom Cruise-applied for a divorce on June 29. The court papers, which were obtained by Nationa Enquirer revealed that six months prior to Katie filing divorce papers, the marriage had been irreversibly broken.
The divorce was amicable settled by Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise two weeks after the former filed the divorce papers. In her divorce papers, Katie Holmes sought full custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri. The duo, after they settled the divorce, gave a joint statement, which read-we are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri's interests.
The Church of Scientology, with which Tom Cruise had been closely associated with, said it had no comments and respect the divorce. As per the divorce agreement, Tom Cruise was asked to give $4,00,000 a year to meet Suri's expenses. Tom Cruise is a highest paid actor in Hollywood. Fifty-year-old Tom Cruise entered into wedlock with 33-year-old Katie Holmes in 2006 in a lavish wedding in Italy.
There are reports that Katie and Suri would meet Tom Cruise in New York as the latter would fly to NY to meet his daughter. Tom wanted to spend as much time as possible with Suri this Christmas. Marriage might have broken, but Suri thankfully is getting the love of both father and mother. This is what actually matters.
