In recent times, cricket fever in India surged high and took a great toll on Indian film industry to recently concluded World Cup Matches to commencement of IPL fourth version. In every move cricket is making a huge impact on films and careers of some debutant stars in respective industry.
World Cup 2011, with six weeks power packed schedule, many filmgoers ignored going to cinema halls and simply glued themselves up to televisions in homes.
As we all know, Feb-Mar is conventionally a time where kids are full of activity with their exams and families choose not to go out to watch movies.
Habitually, April to May is the period of new releases in film industry where, many students would be packing up their exams. Sometimes summer is termed as festival season in India for film releases.
Eventually, cinema industry is loosing its glare due to cricket mania across the country. The reason for is quite evident with cricket fever going high in, where industry is facing a severe heat and drought season has been continuing with in it.
According to financial newspaper mint, it’s been evident that, Multiplex chains and film industry especially Bollywood segment of it had lost whopping 500 million rupees, in the month of Feb to march ending.
The above mentioned figures may expect to go high in April-May season due to ongoing IPL 4th session. Seat occupancy further declined during World Cup 2011 12% to that of last year, it was recorded 10 percent.
According to KPMG research, In general profits have plunged 20 percent in the last three years from $2.3 billion in 2008 to $1.85 billion in 2010.
Home box office revenues still contribute an average of 75 % of an Indian film’s earnings.
World cup final day, it further slumped box office by 20% on single day, says a film expert.
With this IPL season in India, which started on April 8th, and concludes on May 28th, there’s high chance of loss to film industry.
As many matches of it are planned in different places of country, while some Bollywood stars acting as franchises much hype is on IPL rather than Film.
There are many reasons for big budgeted movies that are plummeted at the box office. It varies from story element to direction.
Last Year 62 films have been released between Jan-Apr, and only 4 films impressed audience and got managed to stockpile some good collections. According to the statistics, it is know that, last IPL session caused slump of around 200 crores.
But now, scenario is quietly changing as, many film makers and producers are all gearing to release their movies and are trying to test their luck.

Anne Bazmee’s, “Thank You” plummeted at the box office, which hit the screens on April 8th of this month due to its poor story line and content.
Next is, Rakesh Om Prakash mehra’s “Teen Thay Bhai” which released on April 15, failed to impress audiences, due to bad screenplay and content.
Upcoming movies which pinned some hopes on are,
Abhishek Bachchan- Bipasha Basu’s, Dum Maaro Dum which is all slated to release on April 22nd of this month and Vikram Bhatt’s “Haunted” is scheduled to release on May 6th.
In the long run, its Khan’s festival in Bollywood with many of there major flicks will hit the screens this season. They are
Muscle Hunk Salman Khan’s comedy reboot “Ready” will hit the theatres in June. And B- Town king Shah Rukh Khan starring in a science-fiction movie “Ra.One”, while Aamir Khan’s “Delhi Belly” will hit the sliver screens, later this year.
Experts from Film industry are predicting that, it would be a better half in this season.
