While his long-term goal is to take over the reins of the TDP founded by his grandfather, he wants to have an active film career for some more years and to realize this medium-term goal he has to be cosy with the TDP leadership.
It is this realization that prompted his father and the party MP Nandamuri Harikrishna to make conciliatory gestures and declare that he and his son were very much active in the party.
Harikrishna, who is nursing a strained relationship with his brother-in-law and the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, made it a point to dispel the perception that he and his son were keeping themselves away from the party activities.
It is said that Harikrishna had to reluctantly give the clarification in the interests of Junior NTR’s film career. There have been discreet attempts made by the TDP leaders to use their clout with the Tollywood bigwigs to scuttle Junior NTR’s career.
The TDP’s top leadership has an enormous influence on the film producers. A subtle message has been spread in the film circles that Junior NTR does not have a bright career after all. Aware of the long-term damage such a campaign can cause to his career, he is believed to have come around for a compromise.
