There was a time when the shelf life of a heroine was anywhere between 18 to 25. Once she crosses 25, she is considered too routine onscreen and some also tag her as an old hag. However, all that seems to be changing with each passing day. Even those who are nearing their thirties are setting an example.
While Bollywood has the likes of Bipasha Basu and Vidya Balan still going strong, even our southern beauties are not far behind. Notable among them are Anushka who still scorch the screens with their oomph and are ruling the roost. She is closely followed by the likes of Trisha and Shriya who have crazy fan following.
Incidentally, these starlets are setting a new definition for today’s woman and are representing a woman who is independent, liberal and expresses her sexuality boldly. What remains to be seen is how far this phase will continue and what way this will have an impact on the current generation ladies.
